Book Review: Chains Of Fear (by Neymat Raboobee)

Book: Chains of Fear

Author: Neymat Raboobee

About the book :

Chains of Fear, is a fictional story which revolves around two characters, Ammarah and Muneer.

Ammarah is a young lady, who is messed up with her thoughts of what to do with her life. An obvious confusion or dilemma every person in his/her early adulthood experiences. She is mixed up with thoughts of setting her career but feels she is not prepared enough to do so, then on the the other side, she desires to get married to fill up her loneliness. Amidst all this, Ammarah gets a wedding proposal, and with no proper thought and willingness, she had to agree for the wedding with Muneer.

The rest of the story is about the ups and downs the newlyweds face and how they gradually overcome every hurdle and their fears, with each other’s love and support.

My Opinion:

The novel is 200 pages thick and let me tell you, it was a page turner. Author Neymat Raboobee needs to be appreciated for her clean yet compelling way of writing. The readers can easily relate to the characters and feel their emotions.

It beautifully showcases the feelings, thoughts and emotions, every man or woman faces before getting married and with the same diligence, the author was able to describe the emotions of the newlyweds as well. The situations the characters face, how they, in little steps get closer to each other and how they cope up with hurdles is described elegantly and I must say, this is what our youth, married or unmarried needs to know today. The story, for me, was an excellent example of the ayah from the Qur’an, which goes like this:

They (women) are Libas (body cover or clothing) for you and you are Libas (body cover or clothing) for them”
(Qur’an -2:187)

This is how Neymat Raboobee has knit the story. The understanding, the characters in the story build; the way they cover each others flaws, how one becomes ice when the other is hot and how they both compliment each other, is what made me feel that the story lived up to this ayah.

To sum up, applause to Neymat Raboobee for such wonderful work in Islamic fiction. This book is highly relatable, draws you in its essence and can serve as a guide to mend relationhips.

I am extremely happy that I was given a chance to review “Chains of Fear”. May Allah reward the author for such beautiful work.

More book reviews to come. Stay tuned.

Until next time, Salam 🙂
