So here’s another master piece by Neymat Raboobee. I am always in awe of her exemplary writing that doesn’t fail in keeping the readers hooked till the end.

This book was my companion along the 5 hr journey and here’s my review about it.

About the book:

The story revolves around two characters – Adam and Iman.

Immersed in the depths of crime and murder, Adam, a young gangster, lives a life of guilt and self-destruction. Having spent years in this profession, Adam doesn’t get used to taking innocent lives. Each time he pulls the trigger, a tinging sensation of guilt drives through his soul; but he refuses to back away and continues to lead a resentful life.

On the other side, despite being brought up in the house of Ibrahim, a name that would threaten people to death, the king of gangsters; Ibrahim’s granddaughter Iman was simple, elegant, innocent and pure from all the filth of the criminal world. She was forced to live with her mother, a lady who never took Iman except as a burden. Her grandfather had to do so to keep her safe from the evil he has put himself into.

Iman’s only wish is to move away from her mother and live peacefully with her grandfather. Fate plays its part and brings together Adam and Iman; and it is from then that their journey of love and recovery begins.

My opinion:

In a single line: the overall experience was a satisfying one.

Initially, I found the story moving in a very slow pace. But towards the end, it all grew into a thrilling love story. I like the detailing Neymat does all the time. Those little speculations that put the reader into the character’s shoes.. that’s mesmerizing. The emotions of pain, hate, love, and guilt.. every bit of it hit me hard.

It was only a tiny part that was too slow, but on the whole it was a good read.

From the time the two characters unite in unexpected circumstances till they learn to grow together and become each other’s support and covering; I enjoyed thoroughly.

It’s not just about two people from a criminal background falling in love with each other; but is more about the reality that how, at times, we don’t let go of the past and punish ourselves by refusing to move towards change.

The concept is beautiful. And I recommend you to give it a read.

More reviews to come soon.

Until next time, Salam 🙂

    2. Neymat writes really well. One of most awesome things is, she blogs her stories gradually so you get to read it as she writes…
Then when she’s publishing, she takes it down.

You should definitely read her latest story, Resisting Tafseer. It’s nearly done and is oh so good! Check it out at
