Storyline:

The World is under the secular power and the Believers were oppressed. Signs of the Qiyamah were visible everywhere. Amidst all this.. little Ducktrinors. . The young, dynamic and courageous Muslim siblings set for jihad against the Seculars to let free, the Believers. The young miss Hanifa Ducktrinor was the initiator of the plan to fight in the cause of Allah.

The Ducktrinor parents Adama and Eva Ducktrinor raised their kids in a strong religious environment, inspite of all the masacres around. They wanted their kids to be strong believers and educated them with almost every aspect of Islam.

The entire plot is about how Hanifa, the young Muslimah, leads the jihad, in companionship with her siblings against the seculars who called themselves the leaders of the world. Also she wants to find the people of the cave and fight alongside with them, Jesus (Issa-aleihi salam), and Mahdi with the vouching cloud when the cave opens and the prediction about Yajud and Majud (Gog and Magog) will occur.

My Views:

In a sentence.. It was a thrilling and satisfying read.

This was my first Muslim Science Fiction read. I am in awe with the way Papatia Feauxzar made everything fit perfect, mixing up science fiction and Islamic stories.

I really loved the names of the main characters in the story and how they unified Islam. Kudos to Papatia for this.

The story, in its starting chapters put me into confusion, as i was not able to keep up with the time transitions. (May be it was the reader’s fault!) But the story gradually started making sense and intrigued me in as every chapter enclosed the hidden plot.

You’ll find lots of ahadith, Quranic verses and stories from the past all over the novel, affirming you that, you’re reading a MUSLIM sci-fi story. Huge and endless skyscrapers, robots all around, flying machines, and every element a classic sci fi novel should consist of, is present in the story and the best part!.. it is all perfectly twined with a Muslim touch.

At the end of it, I ENJOYED reading The Ducktrinors. It was a complete hollywood sci fi movie going on in my mind as I imagined every scene from the book. The twists in the plot were good and yes it’s a second read for me!

Recommendation? IT’S A MUST READ!

For all those Muslims in love with sci-fi movies and novels this one’s for you!
