Giving in charity will purify your wealth and protect you from hell fire. It is not necessary to give it in bulk and as the Hadith states that a single date can also be given as charity. One should give from what one possesses. There is no limit in giving, all that matters is your intent. And giving away in the month of Ramadan, SubhanAllah, the reward is immense. Let it be anything but give it away for the sake of Allah. Allah doesn’t need quantity He looks at the quality. Do not boast about what you’ve given to the need, that will spoil all of it. Be pure in your intentions, do it for the sake of Allah. Giving away to the needy will lighter your burdens.
While giving from your wealth is a fact that all of us know is the first form of charity. But there are many other simple things that are also a form of charity. Check this Hadith
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Every joint of a person must perform a charity each day that the sun rises: to judge justly between two people is a charity. To help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting up his belongings onto it, is a charity. And the good word is a charity. And every step that you take towards the prayer is a charity, and removing a harmful object from the road is a charity.” [Al-Bukhari][Muslim]
